I don't remember if I've ever commented here before, but I was just so intrigued by the sound of someone eating a banana one. And then I read all the way to the end, so I have to pick that one as being false, because I just can't recollect ever having actively heard someone chowing down on a banana. :)

Yes, every infinite Italian verb needs to have an 'r" :-)
My daughter is bi-lingual but she can't roll her r too - considerig that her parents are from Roma, it is very weird.

My husband, who was born and grew up in Varese, can't roll his "r"s either. But I've been told by his high school buddies that it's actually a posh sounding accent. So, maybe you sound really refined and don't even know it! ;)

On the other hand, in Fidenza near Parma nobody rolls the "r". Food is darn good too.
